These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”, “Agreement”) govern access to and use of the websites, portals, software platforms, research systems, events, competitions, expos, services, and products operated by DESCAM (“we”, “our”, or “us”), including institutional deployments such as DESCAM Virtual Secure Research (VSR) and any successor platforms (collectively, the “Services”).
By accessing the website or using any DESCAM service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Parties & Applicability
DESCAM provides Services to:
- Educational institutions
- Students and faculty members
- Administrators
- Event participants
- Research contributors
- Visitors to the website
Institutions that license software or platforms do so under a written agreement, which may include additional terms. Where a conflict exists, the institutional contract prevails.
2. Licensing & Access Structure
Certain DESCAM Services are provided under institutional license. Licenses may be:
- Annual or term-based
- Seat-limited or usage-limited
- Charged on the full licensed count regardless of actual usage
- Non-transferable without written consent
- Subject to renewal and pricing policies
3. Permitted Use
Users may access DESCAM Services solely for:
Any illegal, harmful, or commercial misuse is strictly prohibited.
4. User Responsibilities
All users agree to:
- Comply with applicable laws
- Follow institutional policies
- Maintain confidentiality of credentials
- Respect intellectual-property rights
- Not interfere with systems or networks
- Not attempt to reverse engineer DESCAM software unless legally permitted
Institutions are responsible for supervising their users.
5. Research & Publishing Activities
Users may conduct research using DESCAM platforms.
Publication Requirements
- Voluntarily submitted
- With author attribution
- After institutional approval (where applicable)
- Under publishing rules issued by DESCAM
Authors retain copyright in their work unless otherwise agreed. DESCAM may host or showcase research for academic or promotional purposes unless restricted by contract or written request.
6. Events, Competitions & Challenges
DESCAM may organize Hackathons, Research competitions, Technology expos, Student showcases, and Workshops. Each activity is governed by event-specific rules covering:
Participation is voluntary.
7. Awards, Incentives & Programs
Some plans or events may include Student awards, Internship interview opportunities, Patent-fee support, Speaking opportunities, or Expo participation.
Such programs are merit-based, subject to eligibility rules, not guaranteed, may be capped or modified, and do not constitute employment or placement offers.
8. Intellectual Property
a) DESCAM Property
All software, branding, documentation, trademarks, and systems remain owned by DESCAM.
b) User Content
Users retain rights to their submitted content while granting DESCAM a limited license to host, display, and operate Services.
9. Data Handling & Privacy
Personal and institutional data are handled according to the published Privacy Policy. Institutions remain primary data controllers for on-prem deployments unless otherwise agreed.
10. Security & Logs
DESCAM platforms may generate Usage records, System logs, Reports, and Audit trails. These are used for operations, verification, and institutional reporting.
11. Suspension & Termination
DESCAM may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are breached, illegal use occurs, Fees remain unpaid, or Security risks arise. Termination follows contractual arrangements.
12-14. Disclaimers & Liability
Warranty Disclaimer: Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” DESCAM disclaims warranties including guaranteed academic outcomes, error-free operation, publication or award guarantees, and employment results.
Limitation of Liability: To the extent permitted by law, DESCAM is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, research data loss, missed outcomes, event cancellations, or placement expectations. Maximum liability is limited to fees paid in the prior twelve months.
Indemnification: Institutions and users agree to indemnify DESCAM against claims arising from misuse of Services, illegal activity, IP violations, or breach of these Terms.
15-17. General Provisions
- Updates: DESCAM may revise these Terms periodically. Continued use indicates acceptance.
- Governing Law: These Terms are governed by Indian law. Courts located in Nagpur, Maharashtra have jurisdiction unless otherwise agreed.
